Job Summary

The University of Miami is seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join the Frost Institute for Chemistry and Molecular Science. As a key member of the Yeager Lab, the successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research projects, utilizing advanced molecular biology techniques and biochemical assays to investigate protein structure and function relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement assays to investigate protein structure and function relationships.
  • Perform and optimize biochemical assays for protein isolation, characterization, and activity analysis.
  • Utilize advanced molecular biology techniques to support research projects.
  • Conduct and manage cell culture experiments to study protein function in cellular contexts.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the laboratory, including maintaining equipment, ordering supplies, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a research laboratory, preferably with extensive experience in designing and conducting biochemical assays, protein isolation and activity assays, molecular biology techniques, and cell culture.
  • Proven experience in lab management, including maintaining equipment, ordering supplies, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and present findings clearly.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
