Job Summary

As a key member of the CAMC Health System team, the Information Technology Director will provide strategic leadership and management of the day-to-day operations of IT areas, including network infrastructure, training, workflow, and support teams. This position requires technical strategic planning and tactical implementation, scope, cost, and scheduling coordination. The successful candidate will be responsible for following project methodologies that support the strategic vision of the IS department and hospital enterprise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the management team in each area to ensure project goals are met, maintenance and staff development are accomplished timely, efficiently, and effectively.
  • Review and approve personnel matters pertaining to interviews, hires, and training for new employees.
  • Review provisions for staff development, training, and orientations as prescribed by regulatory agencies and CAMC and departmental standards.
  • Maintain adequate dialogue with direct reports and employees and maintain at least monthly staff meetings.
  • Provide direct reports with the resources, tools, and training they require to meet expected performance levels.
  • Monitor, evaluate, appraise, or discipline employee's activities according to organizational and departmental standards.
  • Lead and direct effective strategic and tactical application planning for the organization.
  • Accurately assess the needs of the department and the business and clinical groups it serves.
  • Develop short and long-range application objectives for financial, clinical, and IS groups.
  • Develop detailed plans and processes for achievement of objectives.
  • Responsible for the implementation of plans related to the department and facilitates the achievement of strategic and tactical objectives.
  • Conduct high-level needs assessment for ancillary and nursing areas.
  • Evaluate departmental systems/process needs and identify business objectives.
  • Document department assessments and develop alternatives and recommendations.
  • Facilitate solution planning with various areas to review issues, define specifications, construct solutions, and develop work plans.
  • Prepare a written summary of solutions, recommendations, and plans.
  • Assist in coordination of interdisciplinary, cross-departmental issue troubleshooting with the design of issue resolution.
  • Reports and monitors high-priority application project progress.
  • Evaluate and monitor solution progress through post-implementation.
  • Disseminate knowledge regarding general IS operational practices.
  • Develop and promote web learning and training.
  • Assure data integrity through ongoing assessments, development, and oversight of databases and applications.
  • Promote and review the effectiveness of the department's quality initiatives.
  • Create and review programs to promote quality improvement and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in regulatory compliance task force for the organization.
  • Participate in organization readiness for quality and regulatory standards.
  • Identify actual and potential problems; utilize innovative problem-solving techniques; exhibit commitment to problem resolution and provide follow-up.
  • Participate as black belt or on a team for RIE, JDI, and other 'Six Sigma' initiatives.
  • Oversee the efforts surrounding quality control procedures for all application implementation and ensure routine maintenance is performed as part of operations and support while maintaining a path towards application enhancement and effective utilization.
  • Create and manage the budget for assigned areas and allocate funds within the budget to accomplish objectives.
  • Prepare budget recommendations based on the business objectives.
  • Make recommendations for changes or additions for application maintenance, upgrades, implementations, and department operations.
  • Responsible for the compliance with the budget established for assigned areas and reporting anticipated variances.
  • Resolve operational and unforeseen procedural problems and address other concerns relative to application implementation, regulatory compliance, and hospital best practices as directed or as necessary.
  • Quickly identify and communicate problems with appropriate communication to all affected areas and staff.
  • Correctly identify resolution and implement an appropriate solution utilizing the right resources.
  • Complex technology problem-solving that may affect more than one system of responsibility and effectively coordinate efforts with other department resources to resolve.
  • Maintain a high-level understanding of current technology industry standards and how they interact with application solutions.
  • Initiate and lead contract review process for version control, review, and execution. Actively participate in negotiation with necessary vendors as a subject matter expert.
  • Building requirements for RFQ/RFP process as I/S liaison/representative until analysis is complete and a recommendation to the organization is ready to be made.
  • Support the designated IT Director by analyzing team performance as measured against published (SLAs). Works with the team to ensure that SLAs and quality standards are met.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact): The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment, or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages.

Participate in the continuous, quality improvement activities of the department and institution. 5. Perform work in a cost-effective manner. 6. Perform work in accordance with all departmental pay practices and scheduling policies, including but not limited to, overtime, various shift work, and on-call situations. 7. Perform work in alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of the organization. 8. Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures, as applicable. 9. Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (Required) Experience: 6 or more years of experience in area of specialization or related profession with at least 4 years in healthcare.
