New York, New York, United States Condé Nast Full time
About the Role

Condé Nast is a global media company producing high-quality content with a footprint of over 1 billion consumers in 32 territories. We are seeking a Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer to lead our enterprise-wide diversity and inclusion platforms, driving equity and transparency across our markets and brands.

Key Responsibilities
  • Elevate and execute our global diversity and inclusion strategy to benefit all functions and geographies.
  • Drive the strategic direction and plans for Condé Nast's global diversity and inclusion strategy, ensuring alignment with the overall business and broader people strategies.
  • Work with brand and commercial content leaders to support content development in line with our commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Develop and cultivate a deep understanding of the organization and how best to link D&I strategy/outcomes to the enterprise people strategy.
  • Engage enterprise leadership in a way that gains advocacy and ownership of the D&I and People strategy.
  • Continue operationalizing the D&I strategy and driving global execution, focusing on measurable results.
  • Elevate and support the employee resource groups, ERGs, with their programming, exposure, and success.
  • Work closely with Labor Relations teams to deliver on our workforce commitments and partnerships with teams.
  • Link strategies to talent acquisition objectives, processes, and systems to ensure that they are progressive and remain effective in diversifying talent pools for hires at all levels.
  • Understand and leverage all talent tools: talent management, learning and development, acquisition, rewards, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with Condé Nast's communications team to create a diversity and inclusion-focused internal and external communications strategy - including external recognition and sponsorship.
  • Develop relationships with business leaders globally to influence appropriate diversity and inclusion goals and initiatives - considering local laws, norms, best practices, and business priorities.
  • Be a key representative of Condé Nast to the external world on diversity and inclusion. Act as an internal and external ambassador representing company values in the external diversity and inclusion professional space for best practice sharing and benchmarking.
  • Responsible for developing communications, awareness, and reporting on all D&I initiatives and commitments. As such, communication skills are a must-have capability for the role.
Requirements
  • 10+ years' experience in progressive leadership roles and 5+ years of leading diversity and inclusion at a divisional or enterprise level.
  • Work experience includes interfacing with the C-level executives of an organization of similar scale and complexity.
  • Success within a dispersed, complex, global organization is required.
  • Experience enhancing and implementing a strategy and translating it into actionable, business-focused diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Create, deliver, measure, and evolve applicable diversity strategies and best practices.
  • Continuously 'learn' and adjust strategies, programs, and personal thinking to ensure Condé Nast is a highly diverse and inclusive organization.
  • Track record of leveraging quantitative analysis and metrics to design and measure diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Familiarity with the quantitative analysis associated with diversity metrics and understanding how metrics drive and influence business outcomes.
  • Established market reputation and credibility in diverse communities as a leading diversity and inclusion expert.
  • Leverage thought leadership, expertise, and brand and divisional relationships to enhance content directly, as well as Condé Nast's ability to recruit, sponsor, and retain top diverse talent around the globe.
  • Commercial orientation: Passion for brands and the consumer. Display curiosity and enthusiasm for the front end of Condé Nast's business and leverage this to gain credibility as a coveted advisor.
  • Global mindset: Extensive exposure to organizations with a similar geographic footprint. Passion for travel or previous expatriate experience is highly desired.
  • Earn trust: Earn trust with our employees by acting respectfully and with integrity. You can navigate and resolve employee conflicts (employee relations) in a complex and dynamic media landscape across multiple countries and cultures.
  • Strong Business Orientation: Your perspective is key. By viewing all problems and opportunities through the lens of the business and doing so with a firm understanding of the technicalities of the People function, you have a direct impact on our success.
  • Continuous Learner and Synthesizer: Your ability to work collaboratively across different functions, businesses, and geographies and your eagerness to seek and embrace new ideas and developments keep us moving forward. Your role in facilitating knowledge transfer, change, and/or transformation is invaluable.
  • Strong Data and Technology Acumen: Always looking to those areas to increase insight, improve the employee experience, enhance culture, and attract/retain key talent.
  • Champion all Voices: Able to speak truth to power. Willing to advocate for those with a lesser voice. Fundamentally understand that human beings need to feel a connection and have an impact to perform at their peak and deliver their best authentic self every day.
  • Proactive and Flexible: Able to plan for foreseeable 'issues' and is agile/balanced enough to deal swiftly and thoroughly with surprises.
