Rydberg Technologies is seeking an experienced Senior Radio Frequency (RF) Systems Engineer to spearhead the design, development, and implementation of RF systems. This role demands expertise in areas such as software-defined radio (SDR), RF machine learning, and hardware engineering. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create solutions for the swift identification of RF waveforms, signal processing, direction finding, and various RF applications. Working alongside quantum physicists and engineers is essential for the integration of RF systems with quantum sensor technologies. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, self-driven, organized, and possess exceptional project management skills, with the ability to thrive both independently and within a dynamic team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop SDR solutions tailored for advanced RF applications, leveraging GPU acceleration and RF machine learning techniques.
  • Work in partnership with physicists and hardware engineers to enhance antenna and electronic systems for diverse RF applications.
  • Establish and evaluate specifications for RF systems and antenna receivers to guarantee peak performance.
  • Develop and refine front-end electronics, including low-noise amplifiers (LNAs), mixers, and filters, to meet specified performance criteria.
  • Engineer and implement RF electronics such as frequency synthesizers, power amplifiers, and RF switches to fulfill system requirements.
  • Conduct RF testing and measurement activities, including performance validation using RF testing equipment.
  • Investigate and analyze RF waveforms to create algorithms and models for signal identification, classification, and direction finding.
  • Integrate RF systems with quantum sensors to unlock new sensing capabilities and applications.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and support personnel.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in RF engineering, signal processing, hardware design, and electronic warfare.

  • Wireless Communication Protocols: Knowledgeable about wireless communication protocols and emerging technologies.
  • Radio Frequency Identification (RFID): Familiar with RFID systems and protocols.
  • System Integration: Skilled in integrating RF systems with other subsystems.
  • Cybersecurity: Understanding of cybersecurity principles for securing RF communication systems.
  • Systems Engineering: Knowledge of systems engineering principles for system-level integration.
  • Project Management: Experienced in project management methodologies for RF system development projects.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of RF regulatory standards.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Ability to produce technical documentation to effectively communicate project progress.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Strong collaboration and communication skills for effective teamwork.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in RF systems engineering or a related field.
  • Solid background in SDR development and hardware engineering.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as C/C++, Python, and MATLAB.
  • Experience with GPU programming and RF machine learning.
  • Familiarity with RF signal processing and testing methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
  • Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team setting.
  • Priority may be given to US citizens or green card holders due to export controls.
