Apply to this posting for Future Opportunities with KLA. KLA is seeking an Opto-Mechanics Engineer in our Central Engineering Group in Ann Arbor.
The engineer will collaborate with a team of opto-mechanical design engineers and optical engineers responsible for core optics modules across various divisions within the corporation.
The engineer will oversee the modeling, designing, detailing, and testing of new opto-mechanical subsystems for the next generation of KLA tools. In this role, successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Leading the design of complex opto-mechanical subsystems, including precision mechanical components and assemblies.
- Collaborating with suppliers globally to develop complex, reliable solutions for KLA's next generation tools.
- Understanding and driving system and subsystem requirement specifications.
- Leading concept and detailed designs, including design reviews.
- Guiding material and component selection for optical and opto-mechanical systems, precision drives, and actuators.
- Proposing feasibility studies and proof of concepts.
- Defining test criteria and building test plans for functional prototypes.
- Guiding the release process according to KLA's standard procedures.
- Working with multi-functional groups and leading system-level discussions, including impacts on overall system performance.
- Leading problem-solving activities at subsystem and system levels.
Qualifications and Education:
Strong understanding of optical and mechanical engineering principles and fundamentals, including precision mechanical mechanisms, heat transfer, fabrication methods, and integration and testing.
Experience with FEA simulations for structural and thermal analysis.
Proficient in 3D solid modeling using CAD, preferably ProE/Creo.
Analytical problem-solving skills in the structural, optical, and thermal domains.
Proficient in engineering tolerance and error budgets.
Experience working in a multi-discipline and multi-culture global organization.
Excellent writing skills and verbal communication.
Must be able to travel for training, project support, and customer assistance globally.
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctorate (Academic), Master's Level Degree with 2 years of work experience, or Bachelor's Level Degree with 3 years of work experience.
