SAP Applications Support Manager

Location: Savannah, GA (onsite)

Position Overview:

The SAP Applications Support Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of software initiatives within the organization. This role involves:
  • Directing the implementation of software projects to align with business objectives.
  • Assessing organizational challenges, articulating requirements, and designing application solutions while recommending automated controls to address information management issues.
  • Collaborating with end users to analyze, define, and document system requirements effectively.
  • Establishing and enforcing project delivery standards, guiding the organization through the entire project lifecycle from planning to completion.
  • Monitoring project progress and providing comprehensive status reports; managing risks and changes while coordinating corrective actions with other leadership.
  • Facilitating cross-team collaboration to prioritize projects and identify implementation challenges.
  • Overseeing recruitment, performance evaluations, and compensation reviews for team members.
  • Possessing extensive knowledge of the field coupled with proven leadership capabilities.
  • Defining operational goals, gathering relevant data, and assessing output requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain support for ERP systems (SD/PP/MM/PM/FI/CO/HR) with a focus on S4HANA, ensuring continuous improvement through meaningful metrics.
  • Act as the IT Lead in client engagements, managing expectations and ensuring effective communication.
  • Plan and execute projects, ensuring teams have the necessary technical specifications and resources to deliver effectively while adhering to timelines.
  • Track and report project statuses across various teams, ensuring proper assignment of work and clearly defined project scopes.
  • Exhibit leadership in deploying system enhancements and addressing technical challenges.
  • Manage a team of SAP consultants and contractors, providing guidance on both technical and human resource issues.
  • Foster team development through coaching and motivation, ensuring optimal performance and career growth.
  • Review and approve technical specifications for application changes and incidents.
  • Ensure effective communication across all organizational levels.
  • Adhere to change control policies and audit standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Lead a team of 8 resources, including full-time employees and contractors.

Decision-Making Authority:

  • Conduct regular team status meetings.
  • Timely resolution or escalation of issues.
  • Review and approve system design and implementation proposals.
  • Initiate and lead improvement projects within the scope of responsibility.
  • Serve as the primary contact for ERP-related matters.
  • Establish standards for IT management.
  • Conduct post-implementation support activities for SAP.
  • Continuously seek to enhance business systems processes through best practices.
  • Ensure product upgrades and enhancements align with business requirements.

Client Understanding:

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of client business functions to facilitate effective change management.
  • Develop use cases, test plans, and scripts to ensure system changes meet business needs.
  • Coordinate and resolve SAP issues through a thorough understanding of ERP functionality.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and support to other staff members.
  • Deliver periodic status reports to management and user groups.
  • Communicate with users regarding daily maintenance and project issues.

Performance Expectations:

  • Ensure existing system processes operate as intended and that new processes are implemented without disrupting client operations.

Strategic Support:

  • Assist senior management in developing strategic direction.

Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience:
  • Minimum of 8 years in SAP ERP (SD/PP/MM/PM/FI/CO/HR) configuration.
  • At least 3 years in a management or leadership role.

Technical Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of ERP processes (S4HANA).
  • Experience with SCM integration with FI/CO/HR.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to interface with all management levels.
  • Project management expertise.

Certifications:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP).
  • Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM).

Physical Requirements:

Occasional standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds is necessary. Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity are essential for operating equipment and reading application information.


Tools & Equipment:
  • Proficiency in using a telephone, computer, keyboard, printer, copy machine, fax machine, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Travel Requirements:
  • Up to 25% travel may be necessary, including potential international travel.

Compensation:
Salary range: $93,250 to $143,600 per year, based on experience.
