Position Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Engineer is an integral member of the Facility Operations team, tasked with executing preventative and ongoing maintenance for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other essential infrastructure systems in high-stakes environments such as data centers, healthcare facilities, laboratories, or utility infrastructures. The goal is to ensure operational efficiency and maximize facility uptime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a reliable individual contributor and team collaborator, sharing knowledge, providing training, and guiding fellow engineers.
  • Utilize expertise to develop innovative concepts, techniques, and process enhancements.
  • Identify potential issues and assist in their resolution to maintain data center uptime and project success.
  • Support reviews of significant design modifications and upgrades to ensure compliance with applicable codes and safety standards.
  • Engage in benchmarking activities.
  • Assist in creating and reviewing all critical Method of Procedures (MOPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for accuracy and safety, assessing potential business impacts.
  • Provide remote facility support as necessary.
  • Maintain collaboration with partner data centers at all times.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position does not include supervisory duties.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED (Preferred).
  • Bachelor's Degree (Preferred).
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience (Preferred).
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

  • State Electric Certification (Preferred).
  • Stationary Engineering License (Preferred).

Functional Skills

  • Proficient knowledge in critical functions: Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, CRACS, UPS, Generators, Cooling Towers.
  • Familiarity with specialized fire systems, including VESDA and monitoring systems, EPMS, and BAS.
  • Understanding of ITIL and Service Now Change Process.
  • Knowledge of data center infrastructure or other high-risk environments.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints/CAD drawings and utilize electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Good project management capabilities.
  • Awareness of safety and risk management principles.
  • Understanding of the project lifecycle.

Shift Information

This position operates on a first shift schedule, Tuesday to Friday, with flexibility required to cover other shifts as needed.

Compensation

Compensation for this role is competitive and based on experience and qualifications.

The selected candidate will undergo a background investigation, including a drug screening.
