Job Overview

The Transmission Estimator plays a crucial role in evaluating Transmission opportunities with utility contractors, E.P.C firms, and renewable energy developers. This position involves analyzing bills of materials provided by clients, aligning products with suppliers, formulating pricing, and addressing commercial inquiries necessary for proposal completion. The primary objective of this role is to cultivate strong relationships with clients to boost business through improved success rates and to undertake necessary actions to meet revenue and profit targets by executing the following responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate strategies to develop successful proposals within the Transmission sector.
  • Provide clients with engineered solutions aimed at reducing overall costs.
  • Propose logistical alternatives that minimize expenses through labor and transportation efficiencies.
  • Collaborate within a high-performing team, relying on each other to meet deadlines and fulfill customer expectations.
  • Select manufacturers capable of coordinating with our team and clients to fulfill order execution requirements.
  • Utilize tools employed by the Project Services Team to organize opportunities, manage projects within the system, and ensure payment.
  • Establish client relationships that position Sonepar as a preferred supplier, capable of securing work without necessarily being the lowest bidder.
  • Comprehend sales objectives, strategies, advertising, and promotions, working towards achieving them as outlined in this role.
  • Understand financial risk concepts and financial modeling related to project-oriented tasks.
  • Engage and collaborate with all Sonepar operations and personnel in support of our Project Services business platform.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to learn and interpret electrical plans, specifications, and drawings.
  • Creative thinking skills to develop insightful and innovative solutions for both client and company challenges in major account sales.
  • Proficiency in performing mathematical functions.
  • Technical aptitude: quick to learn and utilize technology in support of the sales process.
  • Proficient in PC usage with knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) required.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Must be a collaborative team player.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years of industry or distributor sales experience is preferred (5+ years of business experience in the Utility Industry is desired).
  • A Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university; or three to five years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. An Engineering or Technical degree is advantageous but not mandatory.
