Position Summary: We are seeking a seasoned Senior Laser Systems Engineer to become an integral part of our Research and Development team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, including Program Managers, scientists, and engineers, to pioneer new technologies and laser systems.
  • Oversee product development at the system level, ensuring comprehensive review and approval of system and subsystem requirements.
  • Draft and maintain Systems Engineering Master Plans (SEMP) along with other essential technical documentation.
  • Translate customer specifications into actionable design and testing requirements, ensuring compliance throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Manage requirements baselines with traceability across system, subsystem, and component specifications through a structured requirements management process.
  • Administer internal and external interfaces via a formal interface management approach.
  • Conduct thorough technology assessments and trade studies.
  • Perform risk assessments and analyses to identify potential issues.
  • Plan and execute investigations to devise solutions for technical challenges.
  • Develop and refine test processes, equipment designs, and system integration methodologies.
  • Design and facilitate system and subsystem verification testing.
  • Support business development initiatives and contribute to proposal efforts.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, systems engineering, or optics; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • 10 to 12 years of pertinent experience in the field.
  • Proven expertise in Systems Engineering, particularly in requirements development, test planning, and systems integration.
  • Experience in managing system and subsystem requirements flow down.
  • Demonstrated capability to implement systems engineering best practices and tools effectively.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering and requirements management software tools, including model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical results clearly.
  • Experience with space-based electro-optical hardware is advantageous.
  • U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
