Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Laser Systems Engineer to enhance our Research and Development team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, including Program Managers, scientists, and engineers, to pioneer new technologies and laser systems.
- Oversee product development at the system level, ensuring thorough review and endorsement of system and subsystem requirements.
- Draft Systems Engineering Master Plans (SEMP) alongside other essential technical documentation.
- Translate customer specifications into actionable design and testing requirements, ensuring compliance throughout the development lifecycle.
- Manage requirements baselines, ensuring traceability across system, subsystem, and component specifications through a structured requirements management process.
- Administer internal and external interfaces using a formal interface management approach.
- Conduct technology evaluations and comparative studies.
- Perform risk assessments and analyses to identify potential challenges.
- Plan and execute investigations, developing solutions to address technical challenges.
- Establish test processes, design test equipment, and configure systems integration utilizing established methodologies.
- Design and facilitate system and subsystem verification testing.
- Support proposal efforts and contribute to the development of new business opportunities.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, systems engineering, or optics; a master's degree is preferred.
- 10 to 12 years of relevant professional experience.
- Proven expertise in Systems Engineering, focusing on requirements development, test planning, documentation, and systems integration.
- Experience in developing and managing the flow down of system and subsystem requirements.
- Demonstrated capability to lead and implement systems engineering best practices and tools.
- Familiarity with systems engineering and requirements management software tools, including model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
- Strong communication skills to convey technical results effectively.
- Experience with space-based electro-optical hardware is advantageous.
- U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
