Job Overview

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Beverage Sales Consultant will be tasked with serving the clientele of Roach and Smith Distributors by promoting and selling products tailored to their unique requirements. This role encompasses the sale, distribution, placement, and merchandising of products within retail establishments across the designated territory. Key responsibilities include fostering customer relationships, managing accounts receivable, adhering to a structured appointment schedule, and achieving monthly sales objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Beverage Sales Consultant is responsible for driving revenue growth in their territory compared to the previous year. The individual will meet growth targets set by management and achieve monthly objectives for assigned brands through the following actions:

  • Strategically plan sales goals and optimize route efficiency.
  • Engage with accounts based on a predetermined frequency.
  • Identify sales opportunities within accounts.
  • Review inventory and back stock for accurate pricing, rotation, and display.
  • Execute merchandising tasks.
  • Ensure adherence to product quality assurance standards.
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels.
  • Manage accounts receivable for each assigned account.
  • Deliver compelling sales presentations and effectively close sales.
  • Document and maintain precise records for each sales call.
  • Keep detailed customer logs to assess needs.
  • Meet or surpass sales volume and profitability targets.
  • Achieve distribution objectives.
  • Recommend and implement product resets as necessary.
  • Execute promotional displays that outperform competitors.
  • Enhance knowledge of Roach and Smith Distributors' products and proactively improve overall beverage expertise.
  • Comply with all relevant regulations regarding the merchandising of alcoholic beverages.
  • Follow company policies and procedures diligently.
  • Maintain company property, including vehicles, in good condition.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints promptly.
  • Uphold professional appearance standards.
  • Be punctual for all scheduled account visits, meetings, and training sessions.
  • Exhibit exceptional communication skills with suppliers, management, and customers.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in all responsibilities to ensure high-quality work.
  • Establish and nurture effective working relationships.
  • Show sound judgment and accountability in decision-making.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities qualifies. A typical pathway to acquire these qualifications includes:

  • Preferred residence in the Bitterroot Valley.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of direct sales experience, preferably in the beverage industry.
  • Five (5+) years of relevant industry experience in beverage sales.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and eligibility under the company's vehicle policy.

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

This role may require 8-to-10-hour workdays, including flexibility beyond standard business hours. On-site work at customer accounts is expected, and the position may involve exposure to various weather conditions while traveling. The noise level may vary by account but is generally moderate.

  • Seeing: Must be able to use office equipment and read various documentation.
  • Hearing: Must effectively communicate in diverse environments.
  • Standing/Walking: Frequent.
  • Sitting: Frequent while driving or at a desk.
  • Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: Occasional.
  • Lifting/Pushing/Pulling: Ability to lift 35-55 lbs routinely, occasionally up to 75 lbs.
  • Driving & Travel: Occasional travel required.
