Position Overview: We are currently seeking a dedicated Quality Inspector to be part of our Ring and Cylinder (R&C) division. The R&C Quality Inspector plays a crucial role in the assessment and examination of products throughout various phases of the manufacturing process, ensuring adherence to relevant codes and standards. This position supports inspections from initial to final stages for all OEM products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct repetitive inspections in accordance with established methods and protocols.
  • Perform visual inspections utilizing a range of precision measuring tools.
  • Verify dimensions and finishes against specifications outlined in blueprints or work orders.
  • Label test components with appropriate terminology as per job requirements.
  • Make accept/reject determinations and recognize when to escalate evaluations to qualified personnel.
  • Isolate defective materials at the source.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections.
  • Inspect and calibrate testing equipment, documenting dates and results.
  • Provide assistance in production as necessary.
  • Support root cause analysis for material defects and engage in problem-solving initiatives.
  • Interpret blueprints effectively.
  • Engage in and promote Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to 5S principles.
  • Communicate pertinent information and concerns clearly and constructively to team members.
  • Perform tasks at a pace that meets quality and productivity standards.
  • Input job data into the production tracking system.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred candidates will possess a foundational understanding of inspection processes, be capable of reading a tape measure and blueprints, and proficient in using basic hand tools, calipers, and micrometers. Other combinations of formal training and experience may be considered.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (AWS, ASTM-123, DOT, etc.) is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving methodologies and the ability to apply engineering and lean concepts is essential.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly word processing, spreadsheets, email, and shop floor control systems.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret necessary internal manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong oral communication skills, including clear handwriting in English.

Salary Information:

The actual base salary for this position will be determined based on various factors, including market conditions and individual qualifications assessed during the interview process. The provided salary range serves as a guideline and may be adjusted.

Work Schedule:

  • Shifts:
  • 1st shift: Monday - Thursday, 5am – 3pm.
  • 10-hour shifts (including paid breaks).
  • Voluntary overtime opportunities available.
