Essential Responsibilities:

  • Act as a key contact between the manufacturing facility and its clients/suppliers, offering technical support related to quality in the investigation, containment, and resolution of quality issues.
  • Oversee each stage of quality control and assurance activities for both new and ongoing projects to guarantee that product quality, timelines, and schedules align with customer expectations.
  • Gather and analyze information regarding quality standards to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
  • Evaluate and provide insights on the quality of raw materials, purchased components, and other items necessary for the production of automotive interior parts and assemblies.
  • Examine material lists for adherence to company standards concerning parts and materials utilized.
  • Assess processes for enhancements, potential failure modes, stability, and capability.
  • Facilitate process change requests and the implementation of Engineering Change Instructions (ECI) related to quality assurance activities, including the preparation of supporting documentation, tracking changes, communications, sample part evaluations, and scheduling trial parts.
  • Ensure that any new inspection tools for the product/process are validated and maintained within the calibration system.
  • Collaborate with the Manufacturing department to initiate effective containment, investigation, and corrective actions to prevent further issues both in-house and with customers.
  • Conduct quality audits, including evaluations of vehicle end-use applications, problem analysis, and providing design/redesign recommendations.
  • Manage and maintain quality assurance documentation, including quality assurance plans, tool progress reports, evaluation plans, inspection standards, supplier and customer quality benchmarks, Supplier Quality Assurance Manual (SQAM), Quality Assurance Standards (QAS), Process Flow, Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Manufacturing Quality Chart/Control Plan (MQC/CP), Initial Sample Inspection Report (ISIR), etc.
  • Support and assist in the planning, development, and execution of quality systems and activities with suppliers to ensure that supplier components meet or exceed plant and customer standards.
  • Oversee and address service part quality concerns and warranty claims as needed.
  • Assist in the development of a quality management system (e.g., TS-based procedures and instruments).
  • Initiate, prepare, and present plans for quality enhancements and train necessary team members.
  • Complete various reporting, administrative, and other quality-related tasks for the Quality Control department as required, including participation in QC Circles, Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting, quality dojo creation/training, and launch document preparation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in business, manufacturing, engineering, or a related field is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional trade education and quality certifications are preferred.
  • More than four (4) years of relevant experience is required.
  • Experience in launching quality control programs for new initiatives.
  • Experience in creating PPAP and Manufacturing Quality Chart (MQC) documents.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, tooling, quality control techniques, and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Welding experience in arc, spot, and projection welding is advantageous.
  • Experience with injection plastics and urethane processes is a plus.
