Job Overview

Join Our Team: We are seeking a Quality Inspector to become a vital part of our Ring & Cylinder (R&C) division. The Quality Inspector plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality of products throughout various phases of the manufacturing process, adhering to relevant codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspection tasks with minimal supervision, following established methods and protocols.
  • Perform visual inspections using a range of precision measuring tools.
  • Verify dimensions and finishes against technical drawings or work order specifications.
  • Label test components with the appropriate terminology as per job requirements.
  • Make accept/reject determinations and know when to consult more experienced personnel for borderline evaluations.
  • Isolate defective materials at the source.
  • Maintain precise inspection documentation.
  • Calibrate and inspect testing equipment; record dates and outcomes.
  • Prepare formal inspection reports that are suitable for customer review.
  • Facilitate problem-solving initiatives to identify root causes.
  • Support cross-functional teams as needed.
  • Possess intermediate knowledge of industry standards, including the ability to interpret specifications, procedures, and code requirements (AWS, ASTM-123, DOT, etc.).
  • Read and interpret blueprints.

Qualifications for the Quality Inspector Role:

  • Preferred candidates will have experience in inspection, be proficient in reading measuring tools and blueprints, and be familiar with basic hand tools, calipers, and micrometers. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Understanding of industry standards (AWS, ASTM-123, DOT, etc.).
  • Familiarity with problem-solving techniques and the ability to apply engineering/lean principles.
  • Proficient in computer applications, especially word processing, spreadsheets, email, and shop floor control systems.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret internal manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong oral communication skills, including clear handwriting in English.

Salary Information:
The actual base salary for this position will be determined based on various factors, including market conditions and individual qualifications assessed during the interview process. The provided range serves as a guideline and may be adjusted.

  • Shift options include:
    • Weekend shift: Friday – Sunday, 5am – 5pm, with a $2.50/hour shift differential.
    • 2nd shift: Monday - Thursday, 3pm – 1am, with a $1.50/hour shift differential.
  • 12-hour shifts (including paid breaks) for weekend shifts.
  • 10-hour shifts (including paid breaks) for 1st and 2nd shifts.
  • Voluntary overtime opportunities available.
