Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Healthcare Support Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering both clinical and administrative assistance to healthcare professionals, ensuring the provision of high-quality medical services. This position is essential for achieving optimal patient outcomes through dedicated patient care activities.

Compensation: $19 - $21 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage incoming calls, schedule patient appointments, check-in patients, and gather necessary information to maintain and update patient records while ensuring all documentation is completed.
  • Collect and document patient medical histories, vital signs, test results, and other pertinent information for medical records, adhering to strict confidentiality protocols.
  • Prepare examination rooms and medical equipment, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for patient care.
  • Oversee the inventory of medical supplies, ensuring examination rooms are adequately stocked.
  • Assist in the preparation, ordering, and administration of medications under the supervision of healthcare providers.
  • Support healthcare practitioners during clinical examinations and medical procedures, ensuring a smooth patient experience.

Additional Duties:

  • Facilitate the transfer of patients before and after procedures.
  • Provide compassionate support and assistance to patients and their families.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA standards.
  • Complete all required annual training by the designated deadlines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to correlate clinical data with patient care effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with patients, families, and colleagues, adapting communication style as necessary.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this role include:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Effective communication abilities, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Manual dexterity to handle equipment and supplies.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision capabilities, including close vision and depth perception.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • One to three months of relevant experience or training.
  • Medical Assistant Certification is preferred.
