Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Healthcare Support Specialist plays a crucial role in providing both clinical and administrative assistance to healthcare professionals, ensuring the effective delivery of high-quality medical services. This position is essential in promoting optimal patient outcomes through dedicated patient care activities.

Compensation: $19 - $21 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage incoming calls, schedule patient appointments, facilitate patient check-ins, and gather necessary information to maintain and update patient records while ensuring all required forms and consents are completed.
  • Accurately document patient medical histories, vital signs, test results, and other relevant information for medical records, maintaining strict confidentiality at all times.
  • Prepare examination rooms and medical equipment, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for patient use.
  • Oversee the inventory of medical supplies, ensuring examination rooms are stocked with the necessary items.
  • Assist in the preparation, ordering, and administration of medications for patients under the supervision of healthcare providers.
  • Prepare treatment areas for clinical evaluations and support practitioners during medical procedures and patient care activities.

· Aid in the transfer of patients before and after procedures.

  • Provide compassionate support and assistance to patients and their families.
  • Ensure adherence to all healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA standards.
  • Complete mandatory annual training as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

· Ability to connect clinical data with patient care effectively.

· Strong communication skills to interact with patients, families, and colleagues, adapting communication style as necessary for optimal outcomes.

The physical demands of this role include:

· Standing and/or walking for extended periods.

· Ability to communicate effectively, with or without reasonable accommodations.

· Proficiency in using both hands for tasks, including reaching and handling objects.

· Capability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

· Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Education and Experience Requirements:

· High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

· One to three months of relevant experience and/or training.

· Medical Assistant Certification is preferred.
