About the Role

Fleet Jobs is seeking a highly skilled Load Planner to join our team. As a Load Planner, you will play a critical role in coordinating all processes and functions of load planning and freight movement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Customer Orders: Receive and process customer orders, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of goods.
  • Plan and Optimize Shipments: Utilize advanced analytical skills to plan and optimize shipments, maximizing efficiency and reducing costs.
  • Tender Freight to Carriers: Tender freight to third-party carriers, negotiating rates and ensuring timely pickup and delivery.
  • Update Transportation Management System: Update the Transportation Management System with current shipment information, ensuring accurate tracking and monitoring.
  • Provide Customer Support: Provide detailed instruction to customers and associates from other shifts, ensuring seamless communication and resolution of issues.
  • Track and Monitor Operations: Track and monitor operational issues or functions, providing visibility to management and customers.
  • Complete Daily Logs and Trackers: Complete daily logs and trackers, ensuring accurate record-keeping and compliance.
  • Negotiate Rates with Carriers: Negotiate rates with carriers on a spot rate basis, identifying cost-saving opportunities for customers.
  • Coordinate with Carriers: Coordinate with carriers to ensure on-time delivery, tracking trucks for pickup, estimating times of arrival and delivery, and recovering loads when necessary.
  • Investigate Load Exceptions: Investigate and report on load exceptions, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Make Financial Decisions: Weigh alternative financial decisions, taking action to optimize costs and improve efficiency.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management preferred.
  • Experience: Two (2) plus years of experience in Transportation/Supply Chain preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, advanced desktop computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Customer Focus: Strong customer focus, ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with customers and Penske associates.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment, with flexibility in scheduling and willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Physical Requirements: The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
