Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

20% Organizes and supervises the cooking of meals for immediate service and the preservation of food for later use.

20% Assesses food requirements and manages the ordering, receiving, and distribution of food supplies to team members.

15% Guides team members in the preparation of baked goods including bread, rolls, pastries, and desserts.

15% Handles tasks involving high temperatures, open flames, and steam, while managing exposure to cleaning agents and chemicals.

15% Functions as a baker within the food service team.

10% Executes a comprehensive range of cooking duties within the food service environment.

5% Reports any unsafe working conditions or faulty equipment to the supervisor.



QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


At least one year of experience in food service within a commercial, industrial, military, or institutional setting that involved actual food preparation.

SUBSTITUTIONS:


Formal training in food technology, food service management, or a related field from a trade school or technical institute may substitute for the required experience on a month-for-month basis.


College credits in food and nutrition, dietetics, food service preparation, home economics, or management related to food service will substitute for the required experience at a rate of one semester hour for one month of experience.

NOTE:


Food preparation tasks include cooking, baking, chopping vegetables or fruits, meat cutting, salad making, and short-order cooking such as frying.

Classified employees are not required to provide an official job description or percentages of time spent on food preparation.

Experience that does not involve food preparation, such as cashiering or serving, will not qualify.NOTE:

Any college hours or degrees must be from an accredited institution.

Additional Information:


Positions that are sensitive to safety and security are defined as those where substance abuse may impact University activities through unsafe behavior or judgment errors, or where it could jeopardize the safety of employees or the public.

The primary role of the Culinary Services Coordinator 3 is to execute advanced cooking tasks within the food service operation.
