Your role and responsibilities
In this position, you will serve as the technical authority for all engineering initiatives within assigned projects. Your daily tasks will involve ensuring that all engineering activities across various disciplines are executed efficiently and cost-effectively. You will demonstrate your expertise by acting as a design authority for specific engineering fields and completing the associated engineering tasks. The work model for this role is: Remote. This position contributes to the Process Automation Process Industries division. Key stakeholders include IAPI Growth Industries Solutions. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating on project installations, commissioning, and site activities to identify potential issues or provide solutions to rectify engineering discrepancies.
- Mentoring project engineers and designers in translating conceptual designs into engineering documentation, which includes modeling, prototyping, and calculations.
- Working alongside Account Managers to pinpoint areas where Robotics can present viable opportunities for our clients.
- Cooperating with suppliers, internal factories, and engineering teams to define and create conceptual designs along with budgetary estimates.

Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering is required.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in Robotics, AMRs, mechanical equipment, PLC software and hardware configuration, control panel design, Bill of Materials (BoM) and submittal experience, supplier management, and proposal definition.
- Experience with ABB Robotics, including Robot Studio or RAPID.
- Familiarity with ABB 800xA, AC800M (Control Builder), AC500 (Automation Builder), and/or Allen Bradley SLC/PLC-5 (RSLogix 500), Control/CompactLogix (RSLogix 5000) programming.
- Experience with ABB Flexley / ASTI AMRs, Sigat, or other traffic management software.
- Proficiency in ABB Process Panel/CP600 and/or PanelView line HMI programming.
- Expertise in system integration, automation, and/or electrical controls design and engineering.
- Integration experience with 460VAC and/or 575VAC VFDs and other drive systems into control solutions.
- Experience in site startup and troubleshooting.
- Electrical design and/or power distribution experience is a significant advantage.
- Knowledge of Food & Beverage, Batteries, Data Centers, Foundries, Cement, and Medical Industries.
- Familiarity with Palletization, Material Handling, Automated Warehousing, or Furnace Tending is a plus.
- Demonstrated technical expertise.
- Experience in project execution.
- Strong organizational and planning abilities.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%, including international travel.
- Candidates must possess work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in the US.
