POSITION SUMMARY

Carlson Holdings, Inc. and the Tonkawa family office are on the lookout for a dedicated Investment Analyst to engage in the oversight of Tonkawa-related investment portfolios and the wealth management needs of our clientele. This position is designed as a generalist role, tasked with assessing investment prospects across various asset classes. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Director of Investments and collaborate with the internal investment team, other departments, external investment managers, and third-party service providers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute significantly to the investment manager due diligence process, which includes sourcing, evaluating potential partnerships, and continuously monitoring existing relationships, with a focus on alternative assets (e.g., hedge funds and private equity)
    1. Reassess current managers as necessary
    2. Share insights with the broader investment team and document findings
  • Conduct ad hoc investment research and analysis concerning capital markets and asset classes
  • Keep abreast of market and economic developments
  • Develop and maintain analytical tools to bolster the team's research and analytical capabilities
  • Learn and effectively utilize the firm's investment management software solutions
  • Assist in crafting investment reports and presentation materials for portfolio communications with committees, boards, and family members
  • Oversee trade execution and manage cash and securities transfers
  • Facilitate the fund subscription process
  • Provide support to other Tonkawa departments as required
  • Engage in ad hoc projects as opportunities arise

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field, ideally with a concentration in finance or economics
  • A minimum of four years of relevant professional experience
  • CFA Charterholder (or in progress)
  • Strong understanding of capital markets and investment strategies
  • Experience in research and due diligence, particularly in alternative asset classes
  • Familiarity with investment performance metrics and calculations
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Capacity to uphold a high level of confidentiality and maintain ethical standards
  • Outstanding analytical, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Technologically proficient
  • Experience with financial and investment-related software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) is essential
