Job Overview

Guidehouse is seeking a highly experienced Associate Director or Director to lead our State and Local Government Practice. As a key member of our management consulting team, you will be responsible for leading delivery teams on high-impact client engagements and driving business development activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish approaches to gather information from clients regarding client structure, process, technology, and culture
  • Facilitate meetings with client stakeholders to gather information
  • Manage quality control for project deliverables and work product consistent with Guidehouse quality requirements
  • Leverage Guidehouse frameworks and other leading practices to identify and implement program improvements for clients
  • Effectively leverage project resources to accomplish tasks while providing regular feedback and coaching
  • Drive business development activities, including RFP responses, proposal development, and peak account planning

Requirements

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience for an Associate Director or 10 years of experience for a Director in management consulting, with at least 3 years in State & Local Government or a related field
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university; years of experience can be substituted for a degree
  • Up to 50% travel to local locations
  • Critical thinking to solve problems and develop innovative solutions to client management and operational challenges
  • Proven abilities as a team leader, including supervising teams, creating an atmosphere of trust, and coaching staff
  • Ability to 'quick start' account plans and target new business opportunities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Residency within a reasonable number of miles of a Guidehouse office
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience managing projects and junior & mid-level staff
  • Master's Degree - MPP or MPA (including MBA or equivalent)
  • Experience managing challenging projects and serving clients
  • Experience facilitating meetings and public speaking with large groups
  • Experience with business process redesign, HR consulting, business case development, IT strategy and implementation
  • Management consulting skills, including project management, financial modeling, operational modeling, and stakeholder management
  • Familiarity with Southeastern government structures and processes
