Job Summary

The University of Hawaii Foundation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Director of Development to join our team. This key role will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and soliciting prospective donors for major and leadership gifts that support the vision of the University of Hawaii at Mánoa Athletics Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and manage a portfolio of 75-80 major gift prospects, including those identified by the Associate Director and those assigned by the Vice President for Development and Athletics Director.
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors for major gifts of $25,000 and above.
  • Participate actively and consistently in the UHF Prospect Management Process, including filing timely prospect clearance requests, providing monthly schedules of prospect appointments, and communicating with team members on each assigned prospect.
  • Develop a clear understanding of UH Mánoa Athletics' strengths and philanthropic opportunities, and develop cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff, and administrators.
  • Steward current and past donors to the programs of UH Mánoa Athletics, to assure ongoing involvement and increased giving.
Requirements
  • Minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in a non-profit setting, preferably in development, educational, or membership organization.
  • Proven success in developing major gift strategies, soliciting and closing gifts, and developing recommendations for stimulating interest in the organization's program.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, mail merge functions, and database and records management.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Must be highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to work effectively in a large, complex, and dynamic organization balancing competing priorities.
Working Conditions

The Associate Director will work primarily in an office environment and will need to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a computer, attending meetings, or performing desk work. The Associate Director may need to visit areas of the University campus, as well as locations in and around O'ahu, and must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record or an acceptable mode of transportation.
