Role Responsibilities

In collaboration with the Research Manager/Director for Transport Networks and Components, you will lead Omdia's research initiatives in Coherent Optics. This involves engaging with vendors, service providers, and industry standards organizations to produce both quantitative and qualitative research, including market share analysis, forecasts, opinion pieces, and presentations as part of our Optical Components and Networks intelligence services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Expertise: Serve as the authority on Coherent Optics, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the Optical Network and Coherent Optic market, and engaging effectively with industry experts.
  • Client Advisory: Act as a trusted consultant for our clients on Coherent Optics topics.
  • Data Development: Utilize primary and secondary research to establish credible base data, ensuring comprehensive coverage of market players and consistency with related data.
  • Market Forecasting: Generate market projections through thorough research, leveraging credible sources to substantiate forecasts and narrate market developments, opportunities, and risks.
  • Data Analysis: Extract actionable insights from business data, identify trends, and inform strategic decisions.
  • Research Writing: Provide qualitative analysis to support data findings, focusing on change and development, while maintaining a structured approach for clear output.
  • Public Speaking: Present research findings at industry conferences.
  • Research Scoping: Keep research relevant by understanding customer inquiries and enhancing the research process to continually add value.
  • Thought Leadership: Produce written insights and press materials to support research outputs and represent the company at industry events and webinars.
  • Sales Collaboration: Work alongside the sales team to generate leads and support client renewals, while evolving the research offerings.
  • Event Collaboration: Partner with the events team to enhance Omdia's presence in the industry and develop new research propositions based on insights gathered at events.
Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of Optical Components and Networks, particularly in Coherent Optics.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Business, or equivalent experience; an MBA is advantageous.
  • Proven experience with a telecommunications network vendor, service provider, or market research firm.
  • Familiarity with adjacent Cloud/Com knowledge is a plus.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer focus and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
