Job Overview

In collaboration with the Research Manager/Director for Transport Networks and Components, you will spearhead Omdia's investigative efforts in Coherent Optics. This role involves engaging with vendors, service providers, and industry standards organizations to produce both quantitative and qualitative research, including market share analysis, forecasts, opinion pieces, and presentations, all contributing to the Optical Components and Networks intelligence services. You will also support sales initiatives by creating insightful, timely, and high-quality research outputs.

Key Responsibilities

As the Technical Authority on Coherent Optics, you will:

  • Exhibit extensive knowledge of the Optical Network and Coherent Optic market, confidently engaging with industry experts.
  • Serve as a trusted consultant for our clientele regarding Coherent Optics.
  • Develop foundational data through primary and secondary research, ensuring comprehensive coverage of market participants and consistency with related data and markets.
  • Conduct forecasting by leveraging primary and secondary research to create market projections, supported by credible sources, and articulate the narrative surrounding market trends, opportunities, and risks.
  • Analyze and interpret data to extract valuable insights, identify trends, and guide strategic decision-making.
  • Produce written analyses that substantiate and clarify data, focusing on technological impacts and key market developments.
  • Present research findings at industry conferences and events.
  • Maintain research relevance by understanding customer inquiries and enhancing research outputs continuously.
  • Contribute to thought leadership by generating written insights and press materials that support research deliverables and presenting at industry events and webinars.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to cultivate and advance leads, as well as support contract renewals, while evolving the research offerings.
  • Work alongside the events team to bolster Omdia's industry presence and develop new research propositions based on insights gathered during events.

Required Qualifications

  • Profound understanding of Optical Components/Networks and Coherent Optics.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Business, or equivalent experience; an MBA is advantageous.
  • Proven experience with a telecommunications network vendor, service provider, or market research organization.
  • Familiarity with adjacent Cloud/Com technologies is a plus.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • A customer-focused and team-oriented mindset.
