Principal Cybersecurity Analyst

Location: New York, NY - Onsite work required

Employment Type: Full Time/Permanent (No third-party applications accepted, candidates must not require sponsorship).

The Principal Cybersecurity Analyst plays a pivotal role in spearheading the deployment of the organization's cybersecurity measures. This position involves the development and maintenance of reporting dashboards and metrics, management of cybersecurity projects, and active participation in all infrastructure initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary liaison to plan and execute regular vulnerability assessments, coordinating remediation efforts with partners and internal teams.
  • Oversee and manage cybersecurity projects effectively.

Cybersecurity Controls:

  • Lead the execution of cybersecurity controls aligned with the NIST framework.
  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of existing cybersecurity measures.
  • Collaborate with vendors, carriers, and IT teams to implement new security controls and resolve issues with current controls.
  • Facilitate cross-functional efforts to establish and maintain cybersecurity alerts.

Incident Response and Forensics:

  • Monitor and analyze cybersecurity incidents, coordinating with partners and internal teams as necessary.
  • Lead incident response activities across both on-premises and cloud environments, including containment, eradication, and recovery efforts. Participate in digital forensics investigations to analyze security incidents and determine root causes.
  • Work closely with the VP of IT to create and uphold the Incident Response plan.

Integrations:

  • Assess and identify risks associated with system integrations.
  • Assist in evaluating new software and SaaS platforms to ensure compliance with cybersecurity best practices.
  • Provide expertise in the integration and engineering of security platforms.
  • Design and deliver comprehensive cybersecurity awareness training programs.
  • Conduct regular phishing simulations to enhance employee awareness.
  • Evaluate the cybersecurity implications of all changes by participating in the Change Control process.
  • Foster a culture focused on control effectiveness and risk reduction within and outside the IT team.
  • Contribute to the understanding and adoption of information security standards, solutions, and tools.
  • Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned.
  • Be available on-call 24/7 for urgent cybersecurity matters.

Required Skills:

  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and proficiency in Microsoft and Linux operating systems, virtual environments (VMware), Active Directory, Group Policies, Microsoft 365, Intune, and Cloud/Hybrid Cloud Architecture.
  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco Meraki firewalls and cloud-based Web Application Firewalls (WAFs) such as Sucuri, Cloudflare, and Akamai.
  • In-depth knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Technical expertise in vulnerabilities and exploitation methods.
  • Ability to define Key Risk Indicators (KRI) and Key Performance Indicators (KPI), and create reports and dashboards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SQL, Python, and data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
  • Experience in auditing and assessing network security design.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Expertise in managing multiple projects simultaneously with knowledge of project management methodologies such as SCRUM and Agile.
  • Technical knowledge in security engineering, system and network security, authentication protocols, cryptography, and application security.
  • Domain expertise in cybersecurity, including vulnerability management, Security Operations, Data Protection, Privacy, and Compliance.
  • Data analysis and validation skills.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure and Cybersecurity; experience across multiple functions is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with network, server, and endpoint security, including the implementation and maintenance of security controls and patch management in distributed environments and cloud platforms (Azure and AWS).
  • Experience implementing the NIST security framework.
  • Strong background in network security.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Experience conducting security risk assessments.
  • Preferred experience in Incident Response and development of Incident Response Plans.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • CISM, CISSP, or other relevant cybersecurity certifications are preferred.
  • Certifications in MS Azure, AWS, and other relevant infrastructure areas are preferred.
  • PMP or PGPM PMI Certification or equivalent are preferred.
