Job Title: Phlebotomist III

Dean's Professional Services is seeking a qualified and patient-care-focused Phlebotomist III to work in a Lab Facility in the Danbury, CT area. This is a float position, requiring travel between multiple sites and flexibility with scheduling.

Job Summary:

The Phlebotomist III is responsible for drawing quality blood samples from patients and preparing those specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures. They must ensure that patients are comfortable during the procedure and that the correct amount of blood is taken.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect blood samples from patients for medical testing or donation.
  • Verify patient information before drawing blood.
  • Label and store blood samples to help doctors diagnose and treat patients.
  • Assemble and maintain equipment such as needles, test tubes, and blood vials.
  • Under the direction of the area supervisor, perform daily activities accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a safe and professional environment.
  • Perform verification of patient demographic info/initials including patient signature post-venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct.
  • Maintains required records and documentation.
  • Demonstrates organizational commitment and promotes a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public in general.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent – Required.
  • 5 years of phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections – Required
  • Minimum 3 years in a Patient Service Center environment – Preferred
  • Phlebotomy Certification – Required
  • Medical training: medical assistant or paramedic training – Preferred
  • Customer service in a retail or service environment – Preferred
  • Keyboard/data entry experience – Required
  • Must have EXCELLENT people skills with lots of patience and nurturing.
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record, if applicable
  • Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
  • Must demonstrate Superior Customer Focus; ability to communicate openly and transparently with peers, supervisors, and patients; ability to accelerate and embrace change; and knowledge of our business.
  • Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
