Cloud Infrastructure Specialist
Location: Remote or Hybrid

The Cloud Infrastructure Specialist role is designed to provision and sustain dependable and repeatable cloud infrastructure for enterprise applications. This position will employ an infrastructure as code methodology to safeguard cloud resources and manage application registrations and permissions within Azure Active Directory.

Strategic Planning
  • Collaborate with web development teams and IT operations to ensure seamless application deployment on cloud infrastructure.
  • Ensure that the infrastructure adequately supports complex web applications.
  • Address and resolve infrastructure-related issues.
  • Manage risks and troubleshoot challenges impacting release scope, timeline, and quality.
  • Approach problems with curiosity and creativity; embrace challenges and adapt to change.
  • Utilize Terraform and related technologies for infrastructure management.
  • Work alongside the web team to integrate infrastructure as code (IaC) scripts into source code repositories to facilitate CI/CD.
  • Establish monitoring systems that alert on symptoms rather than outages.
  • Transform manual repeatable tasks into automated processes.
  • Leverage Terraform for provisioning Azure AD resources.
  • Enhance operational processes for infrastructure provisioning and service principles.
  • Design, build, and maintain core infrastructure capable of scaling to support a high volume of concurrent users.
  • Conduct reviews to identify root causes of system issues and continuously refine processes.
  • Strive to elevate software and infrastructure quality while reducing timelines.
  • Perform analysis and research to integrate best practices.
Acquisition & Deployment
  • Partner with analysts, designers, and system owners to test infrastructure resilience.
  • Evaluate documentation and technical specifications of new applications to ascertain infrastructure requirements.
  • Design, develop, and implement enhancements to IaC scripts.
  • Collaborate with networking team members to configure networking and access within IaC scripts.
  • Create and manage scripted, cloud-native infrastructure solutions for enterprise applications.
  • Participate in continuous delivery programs where patches, new versions, and bug fixes are frequently deployed without compromising stability or reliability.
  • Coordinate with third-party development partners to ensure successful cloud resource provisioning.
  • Develop comprehensive program and system documentation.
Position Requirements

Education & Certification
  • Bachelor's degree in computer systems design, computer science, or a related field.
Knowledge & Experience
  • 3-5 years of direct experience with IaC and/or systems management.
  • Proven expertise in developing and implementing Terraform for cloud resource provisioning and Azure AD roles.
  • History of consistently meeting project deadlines.
  • Exceptional technical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of development and software quality assurance best practices.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies is essential.
  • Demonstrated technical aptitude.
  • Ability to implement security practices in line with industry and regulatory standards.
  • Project management skills and/or significant exposure to project-based work structures.
  • Ability to quickly grasp an organization's goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of relevant data privacy practices and regulations.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in Terraform.
  • Familiarity with Docker.
  • Ability to code/debug in Java, .NET, JavaScript, and HQL when necessary.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Comprehensive understanding of middleware applications built using Spring and Hibernate frameworks.
  • Knowledge of JSP, Servlets, Spring Core, Spring MVC, and Spring Boot.
  • Experience in creating prototype projects to evaluate new technologies (e.g., using SpringBoot).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions for code deployment across various environments.
  • Proficiency in Linux server management for application updates, configuration, and deployment, along with comfort in using Linux shell commands (Bash).
  • Experience as Site Admin for JIRA Service Desk and creating integrations with other applications.
  • Experience with Git and Maven.
