Position Summary:

As a Cloud Operations Reliability Specialist, you will take on a key role as a technical operations authority, responsible for the architecture, deployment, and maintenance of cloud-based IT solutions. Your expertise will be essential in constructing, managing, and operationalizing infrastructure, security services, and system components within commercial or governmental cloud environments to ensure the delivery of highly available and scalable services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operational architecture, upkeep, and functionality of AWS cloud platforms.
  • Facilitate discussions and provide strategic guidance to technical teams on operational, technical, and procedural best practices.
  • Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual tasks and enhance transparency within the secure cloud ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and translate requirements into actionable technical solutions.
  • Identify gaps between current and future systems, leading the integration of legacy systems with new technologies.
  • Develop and manage continuous delivery and integration frameworks and tools.
  • Establish processes and operations for infrastructure as code and automation.
  • Guide technical and end-user teams in executing detailed tests and analyzing results.
  • Document and communicate issues, solutions, and timelines to relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist in implementing customer-side monitoring tools and may lead operational outage events.
  • Provide timely technical support and leadership across departments, including rotational on-call support.
  • Support production environments with expertise in monitoring and analytics tools (e.g., Grafana, Dynatrace).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.) in an enterprise context.
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience in collaborative environments.
  • Proficient in integrating legacy systems with cloud solutions.
  • Expertise in infrastructure as code tools (CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager, Terraform, etc.).
  • Advanced knowledge of system configuration tools (Chef, Puppet, Ansible, etc.).
  • Experience with architectural frameworks (Service Oriented Architecture, Domain-Driven Design, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and iterative development.
  • Proficient in source code management tools (Git, SVN, etc.).
  • Experience with CI/build tools and various programming languages (Java, JavaScript, Python, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of Web Services, API, REST, and RPC.
  • Advanced knowledge of cloud platforms and networking concepts.
  • Experience in deploying, managing, and monitoring applications in scalable, highly available environments.
  • Ability to implement best practices and define operational processes.
