On-Demand Group is currently in search of a Senior GCP Security Specialist for a contract engagement.

Position Overview:

The Senior GCP Security Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the security architecture of cloud infrastructures that meet organizational requirements. This role plays a crucial part in driving operational innovation and providing strategic security guidance to enhance the organization's security framework within its cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and uphold secure, robust enterprise-level cloud processes in collaboration with architects and systems engineers.
  • Safeguard business applications and computing environments across various cloud infrastructures, including commercial, private, and hybrid models.
  • Ensure compliance with privacy, security, and business resilience frameworks as outlined in corporate policies.
  • Maintain a secure cloud security environment by conducting thorough oversight of security systems and configurations to mitigate risks.
  • Implement stringent identity and access management (IAM) controls across applications and computing environments.
  • Support the development and maintenance of scripts (e.g., Python, Ruby) for custom extract, transform, load (ETL) tools with a focus on security for data management.
  • Participate in technical project meetings, providing security expertise to guide secure cloud application and infrastructure configurations.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate emerging threats to recommend tactical and strategic initiatives for risk mitigation.
  • Oversee remediation efforts following security assessments to address identified vulnerabilities.
  • Document and enforce security improvements that balance risk management with operational efficiency and innovation.
  • Maintain strong oversight of cloud service vendors to mitigate risks posed by external entities.
  • Stay informed about current and upcoming security regulations and best practices, applying this knowledge across various business lines.
  • Act as a key resource in incident response, ensuring thorough documentation and engagement with security operations teams.
  • Generate security metrics for leadership review.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity.
  • 2+ years of experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Strong skills in Linux and Windows support.
  • Experience in cloud networking architecture and operations.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Git, Jenkins, Chef, Puppet, and Salt.
  • Knowledge of network and encryption technologies, including VPNs, IPsec, SSL/TLS, LDAP, and PKI.
  • Experience with security solutions like Crowdstrike, Tenable, XSOAR, Proofpoint, Forcepoint, and Splunk.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, and JavaScript.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and laws, including HiTrust, HIPAA, and NIST.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of incident response, system configuration, and vulnerability management guidelines.
  • Experience in cybersecurity across various systems and technologies.
  • Solid understanding of data security policies, compliance, and auditing processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Possession of or progress towards certifications such as CCSP, CISSP, or GCP Certification.
