STUDENT ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR
Daily Responsibilities:
The Student Engagement Coordinator works in partnership with students to foster their development into well-rounded, informed individuals capable of leading independent and self-sufficient lives while effectively navigating their communities. This role may involve collaboration across various functional areas based on the center's needs and individual developmental objectives. The Coordinator will become well-versed in relevant guidelines and materials as new responsibilities are assigned.
This position is part-time, requiring approximately 25 hours per week, and operates under a structured schedule, which may occasionally necessitate extended hours, weekend work, and minimal travel as required by job functions. The physical demands of this role are considered low.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students in their transition to independent living by implementing Life Skills programs.
- Work closely with program personnel to provide services in essential areas based on student requirements (e.g., academic, career, social).
- Assist in Person-Centered Planning and prepare Semi-Annual Progress reports.
- Address issues, policy breaches, and other concerns, escalating them as necessary.
- Help students develop independent living skills and other competencies to achieve their personal goals.
- Encourage students to actively engage with the community and the College Internship Program.
- Monitor and document student progress towards their goals within the program.
- Transport students to various locations as needed, utilizing program vehicles.
- Adhere to the transportation schedule established by the administrative team.
- Report any maintenance or safety concerns regarding program vehicles to management.
- Perform additional transportation duties as required.
- Complete administrative tasks associated with the role, including but not limited to:
- Communication with colleagues
- Regularly tracking student progress
- Updating or drafting student reports
- Recording student attendance
- Filling out weekly student assessment forms
- Assisting students with scheduling and goal-setting
- Other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualities:
- The Student Engagement Coordinator should demonstrate outstanding communication abilities, meticulous attention to detail, excellent organizational and prioritization skills, and self-drive in completing tasks. A genuine sense of empathy and understanding of the needs and sensitivities of students, families, and staff is essential.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field is mandatory.
- A minimum of two years of related experience and/or training is necessary.
- A strong background in special education, particularly at the post-secondary level, is required.
- Proficiency in using GPS systems provided by the program is essential.
- Experience working with individuals with autism and/or learning differences is highly desirable.
- Competence in office software and the ability to learn new software programs is required.
- A valid Driver's License is essential.
