Manufacturing Operations Leader

The Manufacturing Operations Leader is tasked with managing the daily functions of a production facility, ensuring that operational targets are achieved safely and efficiently. This role involves direct supervision of personnel, oversight of production workflows, resolution of equipment challenges, and adherence to safety and quality standards within the manufacturing environment. This position requires hands-on involvement in various operational tasks.

Responsibilities may include assisting with the setup and commissioning of machinery and systems at client locations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conduct interviews, provide training, evaluate employee performance, manage disciplinary actions, and resolve workplace issues.

2. Offer strategic direction and expertise to technical teams.

3. Lead, mentor, and train shop personnel.

4. Availability for weekend work may be required as directed by management.

5. Support the recruitment, training, and development of plant staff, including the preparation and approval of timekeeping records.

6. Design and implement training programs to ensure staff competencies align with operational standards for safe and efficient plant management.

7. Oversee inspections and preventive maintenance of production equipment.

8. Execute duties in compliance with all relevant standards, policies, and regulations.

9. Manage shift operations and engage in shift work to meet production deadlines.

10. A degree in a technical field or completion of a recognized trade apprenticeship (electrical, mechanical, or instrumentation) is required, along with demonstrated skills in these areas.

11. Comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations and operational practices is essential.

12. Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities are necessary for collaboration with operators, clients, regulatory bodies, and contractors.

13. Self-driven with the capability to work independently.

14. Flexibility to work on-call or overtime as production demands change.

15. Foster a culture of empowerment among plant associates by building cohesive teams dedicated to producing high-quality products.

16. Contribute to enhancing site safety performance by promoting accountability for safety among all employees.

17. Collaborate with scheduling teams to plan daily activities effectively.

18. Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as required.

Work Environment

This role primarily operates within an indoor manufacturing facility. Employees may encounter various conditions, including exposure to high-pressure fluids, plant noise, forklift traffic, and the use of powered tools. This applies both on-site and at client locations.

Physical Requirements

Physical demands include the ability to lift and carry loads up to 100 lbs. A significant portion of the work involves walking and standing on the production floor.

Travel Requirements

This position may necessitate occasional overnight travel to client sites.

Qualifications

Experience in hydraulics, piping, pneumatics, structural steel, painting, and electric motor systems is preferred.

Products manufactured include automated systems that may feature a variety of components such as presses, clamps, manipulators, pump stations, and conveyors, often requiring intricate piping and structural support.

1. A minimum of an Associate's Degree or completion of a Trade School program, coupled with five to ten years of supervisory experience.

2. Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a project team.
