Associate Executive Director

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as the Associate Executive Director. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families while contributing to the growth and success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Executive Director to develop and implement operating plans that promote program and membership growth for the Y.
  • Provide leadership and direction to staff members, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality programs and services that align with the Y's mission and meet the needs of the community.
  • Continuously evaluate the scope of programs to identify new opportunities to grow existing programs and create new programs that serve the needs of our members and program participants.
  • Build a culture of high program quality and experience in all assigned areas.
  • Create and embrace a diverse and inclusive Y community to increase our local impact.
  • Lead direct reports to create a cause-driven, interdependent, and unified team.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a highly skilled cause-driven leader.
  • Oversee budgeting and financial management, ensuring responsible fiscal practices and resource allocation.
  • Participate in fundraising activities and initiatives to support the Y's financial sustainability.
Qualifications:
  • Previous leadership experience at a YMCA or similar non-profit organization is strongly preferred.
  • 5 or more years of experience supervising staff and leading program areas.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Success leading teams and individuals.
  • Facility management experience.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to create a customer-focused culture.
