Associate Executive Director

About the Role

The Associate Executive Director plays a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals. This position oversees department operations, including membership, healthy living, aquatics, early learning, school age enrichment, summer camp, and facility excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with the Executive Director to develop and implement operating plans that promote program and membership growth.
  • Provide leadership and direction to staff members, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality programs and services that align with the Y's mission and meet the needs of the community.
  • Continuously evaluate program scope to identify new opportunities for growth and create new programs that serve community needs.
  • Build a culture of high program quality and experience in all assigned areas.
  • Create and promote a diverse and inclusive Y community to increase local impact.
  • Lead direct reports to create a cause-driven, interdependent, and unified team.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise highly skilled cause-driven leaders.
  • Oversee budgeting and financial management, ensuring responsible fiscal practices and resource allocation.
  • Participate in fundraising activities and initiatives to support the Y's financial sustainability.
Requirements
  • Previous leadership experience at a YMCA or similar non-profit organization preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5 or more years of experience supervising staff and leading program areas.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Success leading teams and individuals.
  • Facility management experience.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to create a customer-focused culture.
