About This Position

WSP is actively seeking an Early Career Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team in the Florida District. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects within our Earth & Environment Team, contributing to a firm that is dedicated to meeting client needs and addressing complex challenges.

Your Contributions

  • Support the development of work plans and coordinate field/site activities along with laboratory assessments.
  • Compile and prepare geotechnical data reports.
  • Conduct geotechnical calculations and modeling, focusing on slope stability, seepage, and consolidation analyses.
  • Draft geotechnical recommendation reports under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Act as a resident engineer or site lead for construction quality assurance efforts.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, contractors, and multidisciplinary in-house designers.
  • Engage in projects related to dams, retaining structures, underground facilities, and other geotechnical applications.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, cost estimates, and permit documentation.
  • Contribute to the development of project design packages, including technical drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.

Who You Are

Essential Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a focus on geotechnical engineering.
  • 0-1 years of relevant experience in the field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, complemented by analytical capabilities and a positive demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
  • Familiarity with design software specific to the discipline, such as AutoCAD, GINT, and Slide.
  • FE/EIT certification or the ability to obtain EIT within one year is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Previous experience in civil, geological, or mining engineering is advantageous.
  • A Master's degree in civil engineering with a specialization in geotechnical engineering.
