Role Overview:
As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in managing projects, resources, and personnel while offering expert guidance in geotechnical engineering. Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Overseeing geotechnical design, investigation, and analysis for a variety of projects, including residential and commercial buildings, bridges, highways, and more.
- Directing subsurface explorations, laboratory testing, and data interpretation to ensure timely and budget-compliant project delivery.
- Leading geotechnical design and analysis for various foundation types and earthworks, ensuring adherence to industry standards.
- Providing geotechnical support during construction phases, including oversight of foundation and earthwork operations.
- Engaging with clients and stakeholders to address geotechnical concerns comprehensively.
- Mentoring junior engineers and supporting their professional growth.
- Contributing to business development by nurturing client relationships and identifying new opportunities.
- Participating actively in professional associations.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in civil engineering is required; a master's degree in geotechnical engineering is preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on design, analysis, and construction supervision.
- Licensure as a Professional Engineer in the state of Florida is essential.
- Familiarity with local engineering practices is advantageous.
Technical Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.
- Extensive knowledge of geotechnical principles, soil and rock mechanics, and related fields.
- Experience in overseeing foundation and pavement construction, as well as earthwork observation.
- Proficiency with geotechnical engineering software.
- Knowledge of AASHTO, FHWA, and IBC standards.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing geotechnical projects and teams.
Additional Requirements:
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are necessary.
- Ability to pass a background check for clearance to work on various facilities.
