Position Overview:
Under the general guidance of the Financial Grants Manager, the incumbent will oversee financial transactions, maintain general accounting practices, and ensure compliance with financial controls and regulations.

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess an accredited Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.

Core Competencies:
- Ability to work autonomously with strong analytical capabilities.
- Proficient in general accounting principles, budgeting, payroll, and computerized accounting systems.
- Exceptional prioritization skills to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
- Keen attention to detail is essential.

Transportation Requirements:
Access to reliable transportation is mandatory.

Experience:
A minimum of two to three years of accounting experience is required, ideally within a non-profit environment. Candidates should have familiarity with financial reporting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that equips them with the necessary skills for the role may be considered at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer.

Licenses/Certifications:
A valid Michigan Driver's License is required.

Training:
Training will be provided as necessary.

Problem Solving and Interpersonal Skills:
The role demands strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills. The ability to collaborate effectively with team members is crucial.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
The candidate must be attentive and focused in a dynamic work environment, capable of maintaining concentration despite interruptions. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk are expected.

Key Responsibilities:
- Monthly reconciliation of General and Payroll bank accounts, ensuring cash balances align with the General Ledger and making necessary adjustments.
- Reconciliation of subsidiary accounts, including the Head Start Policy Council account and other minor accounts.
- Management of timely and accurate billing to various funding sources, reviewing contracts for reporting requirements and deadlines.
- Monthly reconciliation of Accounts Receivable and Revenue by Fund, preparing documentation for outstanding amounts.
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly journal entries and maintaining a log of recurring entries.
- Assisting the Financial Grants Manager with year-end fiscal closing, including the preparation of work papers for various grants.
- Maintenance of the Vendor Database, ensuring accurate vendor information and compliance with IRS requirements.
- Review of Non-Federal in-kind contributions as required by grantors, adhering to established financial policies.
- Entry of budgets and adjusting journal entries in accounting software as directed.
- Preparation of miscellaneous invoices as assigned.
- Serving as a backup for Accounts Payable functions.
- Performing additional job-related duties as assigned by the Financial Grants Manager or CFO.

Additional Hiring Conditions:
Successful candidates must pass a criminal background check following a job offer and may be required to complete a physical examination and TB test.

Reporting Structure:
This position reports directly to the Financial Grants Manager.
