Role Summary

The Youth Program Support Specialist plays a vital role in assisting with the supervision of children and providing academic support.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Support the supervision of children in the youth program.
  2. Facilitate reading and homework assistance for participants.
  3. Help implement the established daily schedule.
  4. Contribute to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for children.
  5. Assist in keeping program facilities, materials, and equipment clean and well-maintained.
  1. Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
  2. Assist in the preparation of reports as necessary.
  3. Promote the mission and values of The Salvation Army.
  4. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Work Environment

Must be able to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, run, jump, and twist on an intermittent and sometimes continuous basis. Must be able to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, reach overhead, and carry office supplies. Ability to operate a computer, telephone, and similar technologies is required. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. Requests for modifications or adjustments to the job or work environment to meet physical requirements will be considered as long as they are reasonable and do not cause undue hardship.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum age of 16 years.
  2. 1-2 years of experience in a high-energy childcare setting; relevant experiences may include roles such as Youth Group Leader or Camp Counselor.
  3. Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the position.
  4. Must pass a background check and complete child safety training.

  4. Capability to resolve conflicts and mediate issues among children.
  5. Flexibility and a collaborative spirit.

  8. Ability to read and interpret documents, rules, and procedures.
  9. Willingness to complete training in organizational policies and procedures.
