Position Overview
We are seeking a seasoned, innovative, and proactive Senior Media Relations Manager for the Americas region, ideally located in Houston or New York. As a vital member of the media relations team within the marketing and communications department, you will be responsible for crafting and executing strategies that enhance brand visibility and support business development. This role is crucial to our global communications efforts and will involve collaboration across various departments and regions, with a primary focus on elevating Rystad Energy's profile in the Americas.
Key Responsibilities
• Play a pivotal role in the global Rystad Energy media relations team
• Serve as the primary media contact for the region and liaison for Rystad Energy spokespeople
• Enhance Rystad Energy's media presence worldwide in alignment with commercial objectives
• Assist in developing a comprehensive media strategy that spans the organization
• Lead media initiatives, including corporate and research-focused press materials, news releases, articles, interviews, and related communications
• Implement media activities across various platforms, including web, print, television, radio, and events
• Support reporters with data requests; familiarity with data skills and dashboards is advantageous
• Identify innovative methods to convey Rystad Energy's messages to targeted stakeholders
• Proactively pitch news stories, features, and editorials
• Conduct media training for analysts and spokespeople, providing ongoing advice and feedback on media interactions
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets
• Develop a thorough understanding of industry dynamics
• Coordinate responses to media inquiries, ensuring accurate representation of Rystad Energy
• Manage crisis communication situations as necessary
• Provide internal guidance on media relations and communications
• Travel may be required
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or marketing
• 5-7 years of relevant professional experience
• Established connections within the international energy media landscape are a significant advantage
• Proven ability to build relationships with journalists, producers, and editors
• Demonstrated experience in media relations, strategic communications, and content delivery
• Exceptional writing capabilities and understanding of media writing standards
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Experience working across global time zones
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Familiarity with marketing automation tools, graphic design software, and/or programming is beneficial
• Proficiency in additional languages, particularly Spanish and Portuguese, is a strong plus
