Job Overview

Position: Construction Superintendent


Role Summary:

  • Interpret contracts and procurement agreements to understand project requirements; collaborate with Project Manager to align subcontractor and supplier responsibilities.
  • Assess site logistics for access, temporary roadways, fencing, etc., and coordinate with the Project Manager.
  • Prior to construction, conduct surveys and document all adjacent and perimeter site and building elevations.
  • Organize temporary services, primary surveying, and horizontal control.
  • Facilitate preconstruction meetings and weekly coordination sessions with subcontractors, owners, architects, and consultants.
  • Establish construction methodologies, workforce levels, material requirements, equipment needs, temporary power sources, work schedules, and track actual hours worked.
  • Oversee company personnel assigned to the project.
  • Plan and coordinate appropriate equipment for the project.
  • Address construction challenges, productivity issues, and work interface concerns.
  • Ensure thorough maintenance and timely completion of all daily work documentation and other necessary paperwork.
  • Monitor, coordinate, and evaluate submittal logs and shop drawings.
  • Examine construction documents for accuracy and feasibility.
  • Resolve discrepancies in plans and specifications with the project design team.
  • Collaborate with project management to create and uphold the master schedule.
  • Develop a comprehensive site logistics plan.
  • Accountable for site safety and the well-being of all workers, as well as the overall quality of the project.
  • Manage general budgets and oversee project costs.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of four years of experience in construction supervision or craft supervision within similar facility projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction technology, equipment, methods, craft agreements, jurisdiction, negotiations, engineering, cost control schedules, and safety protocols.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills are essential.
  • Proficient in problem definition, data collection, fact establishment, and conclusion drawing.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • A four-year degree in construction management or engineering, or equivalent experience and training; or a combination of education and experience.
