Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist 2 to join our team at the University of Miami/UHealth Department of SCCC. As a Medical Technologist 2, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality laboratory services to support patient care and diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Specimen Handling and Testing
    • Verify specimen identification with physicians' orders and prepare specimens for testing.
    • Handle all specimens in a safe and careful manner.
  • Result Analysis and Interpretation
    • Analyze results of testing and interpret abnormal or unusual results.
    • Research and prepare all pertinent patient data and refer all data and testing results to pathologists for evaluation and sign-out.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Quality Control
    • Calibrate equipment and maintain inventory of relevant forms and materials.
    • Administer quality-control tests, according to procedure, and maintain appropriate data recording.
  • Training and Development
    • Assist with orienting and training employees on laboratory techniques and operations.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required.
  • Certification and Licensing
    • Florida Medical Technologist License is required.
  • Experience
    • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes
    • Ability to complete assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
    • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
    • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
    • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
    • Commitment to the University's core values.
    • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
