The University of Miami/UHealth is excited to announce an opportunity for a Per Diem, Medication Preparation Specialist.SUMMARY
The Medication Preparation Specialist assists in the preparation of medications for patients under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist. This role involves supporting the Pharmacist with essential activities and processes necessary for dispensing medical prescriptions, conducting price checks, and restocking pharmaceutical supplies.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information while maintaining accurate patient records.
2. Aids pharmacists in fulfilling orders and preparing labels for unit doses and prepackaged medications.
3. Receives and organizes incoming medical supplies and pharmaceuticals.
4. Directs provider inquiries and medical questions to the Pharmacist.
5. Engages in orientation and designated training programs to achieve proficiency in pharmacy technician responsibilities.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, standards, pharmacy informatics, and technology, including medication dispensing systems and pharmacy calculations.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures while safeguarding University assets.This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be exhaustive and may be expanded to include additional tasks as necessary.
