Position Overview:
Baptist Health is seeking a Specialty Pharmacy Care Coordinator to enhance our operations at the Central Pharmacy.

The Specialty Pharmacy Care Coordinator serves as a vital link within the ambulatory clinic framework, facilitating patient access to intricate medication therapies.


Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct benefit investigations to confirm patient eligibility for specialty medications.
2. Evaluate authorization requirements for frequently prescribed medications and stay updated on payer formularies and reimbursement processes.
3. Assist in the third-party prior authorization process and secure necessary overrides to expedite therapy initiation.
4. Ensure accurate insurance records and monitor prior authorization renewals to prevent interruptions in medication therapy.
5. Identify financial assistance avenues to optimize copay savings and enhance adherence to therapy.
6. Act as a liaison among healthcare providers, including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, nurses, and social workers, to deliver comprehensive support.
7. Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) to foster interdepartmental communication and ensure precise documentation in patient charts.
8. Support pharmacists with patient interactions, whether in-clinic or via telephone.
9. Promote medication adherence by coordinating outreach to patients for timely refills, either face-to-face or over the phone.
10. Manage patient scheduling for both initial and follow-up consultations.
11. Address patient clinical inquiries and third-party insurance denials, referring to pharmacists for intervention as necessary.

Qualifications:


- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current or eligible for pharmacy technician registration in Kentucky (registration requires only an application and fee).
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of pharmacy technician experience is preferred.
- Previous experience with third-party billing, financial counseling, or medical terminology and coding is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Epic EMR is preferred.
- Completion of 340B University or Apexus certification within 6 months of employment is expected.
