Job Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct benefit investigations to confirm patient eligibility for specialty medications.
- Evaluate authorization requirements for frequently prescribed medications while staying updated on payer formularies and reimbursement processes.
- Assist in the third-party prior authorization process and secure necessary overrides to expedite therapy initiation.
- Ensure accurate insurance records and monitor prior authorization renewals to prevent interruptions in medication therapy.
- Identify financial assistance resources to optimize copay savings and promote adherence to therapy.
- Act as a liaison among healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, nurses, and social workers, to provide comprehensive support.
- Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) to facilitate interdepartmental communication and maintain precise documentation in patient charts.
- Support pharmacists with patient interactions, whether in-clinic or via telephone.
- Enhance medication adherence by coordinating outreach efforts for timely refills through face-to-face or telephonic communication.
- Manage patient scheduling for both initial and follow-up appointments.
- Address patient clinical inquiries and third-party insurance denials, directing them to pharmacists for appropriate intervention.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current or eligible for pharmacy technician registration in Kentucky.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred.
- Prior experience with third-party billing, financial counseling, or medical terminology and coding is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Epic EMR is preferred.
- Completion of 340B University or Apexus certification within 6 months of employment is required.
