Baptist Health is seeking a Specialty Pharmacy Care Liaison to become a vital part of our Central Pharmacy team.
The Specialty Pharmacy Care Liaison serves as an integral member of the outpatient clinic team, facilitating patient access to specialized, high-touch medication therapies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct benefit investigations to confirm patient eligibility for prescribed specialty medications.
- Evaluate authorization requirements for commonly prescribed medications and stay informed about payer formularies and reimbursement processes.
- Assist with the third-party prior authorization process and secure necessary overrides to expedite therapy initiation.
- Ensure accurate insurance data is maintained and monitor prior authorization renewals to prevent interruptions in medication therapy.
- Identify financial assistance opportunities to optimize copay savings and enhance therapy adherence.
- Act as a liaison among physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, nurses, and social workers to provide comprehensive support.
- Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) to foster communication across departments and ensure precise documentation in patient electronic charts.
- Support pharmacists with patient interactions, whether in-clinic or via telephone.
- Promote medication adherence by coordinating direct or telephonic outreach to patients for timely refills.
- Manage patient scheduling for initial consultations and follow-up appointments.
- Address patient clinical inquiries and third-party insurance denials, directing them to the pharmacist for necessary intervention.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current or eligible for pharmacy technician registration in Kentucky.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification is preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred.
- Experience with third-party billing, financial counseling, or medical terminology and coding is preferred.
- Familiarity with Epic EMR is preferred.
- Completion of 340B University or Apexus certification within six months of employment is required.
