Job Title: Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team at Primoris Industrial & Civil. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the construction project development process, responsible for accurately estimating costs and resources required for various projects in the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to review project plans, specifications, and drawings, identifying key factors affecting construction costs.
  • Utilize industry-standard estimating software and tools to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  • Prepare comprehensive bid proposals outlining cost breakdowns, schedules, and other relevant information for submission to potential clients and stakeholders.
  • Solicit quotes and negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing and favorable terms for project components.
  • Identify potential risks and uncertainties in the estimation process and develop mitigation strategies to ensure accurate and reliable estimates.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to explore cost-saving alternatives and value engineering options while maintaining project quality standards.
  • Effectively communicate and present bid proposals to clients and project stakeholders, highlighting the company's competitive advantage and value proposition.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all estimating activities, including correspondence, pricing, and historical data for future reference.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, market conditions, and construction technologies to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the estimating process.
  • Work closely with project teams, including project managers, engineers, and procurement specialists, to ensure alignment between estimates and project execution plans.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2-4 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in the civil earthworks field.
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software such as HCSS.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to perform takeoffs and surface modeling using AutoCAD or Carlson software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in estimates.
