Job Summary

The Inventory Control Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient management of inventory products at the location. This position is responsible for overseeing the receiving process, analyzing and reviewing back orders, and reconciling AP variances. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal communication skills, be highly organized, and possess a strong understanding of inventory control procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the receiving process for all products at the location, ensuring accurate and timely receipt of goods.
  • Analyze and review all special-order vendor back orders and customer back orders to identify areas for improvement.
  • Reconcile AP variances for items purchased by the branch, ensuring accurate and timely payment.
  • Analyze all Value Add and other Trend force ships, taking appropriate steps to correct discrepancies in the system.
  • Work with the RBC manager to set up and maintain all bills of material in Trend, ensuring accurate and up-to-date inventory levels.
  • Ensure the Value-Add process is completed in a timely manner, meeting company standards and expectations.
  • Complete cycle counts as requested by Operations Management and Location Manager, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Notify Management of any inventory adjustments due to damage, short shipment, returns, or other reasons, ensuring prompt and accurate resolution.
  • Coordinate with Management any inventory adjustments needed due to cycle counts, ensuring accurate and timely resolution.
  • Run the bi-annual fiscal inventory for the location, ensuring accurate and up-to-date inventory levels.
  • Notify Management of new product code set-ups, ensuring accurate and timely implementation.
  • Work with vendors to establish and maintain a location "Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI)," ensuring accurate and timely receipt of goods.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all products manufactured in-store and how they are assembled, ensuring accurate and up-to-date inventory levels.
  • Work with the Location Manager and Purchasing department to eliminate non-moving inventory, ensuring accurate and timely resolution.
  • Communicate with Management on all Cycle Count variances, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Work with Supplier Reps and/or Division Purchasing to manage damaged and defective products, obtaining the most value for the company.
  • Identify and manage surplus and obsolete inventory, ensuring accurate and timely resolution.
  • Proactively work to reduce and manage inventory, ensuring accurate and up-to-date inventory levels.
  • Understand the impact of slow-moving inventory on the procurement process, ensuring accurate and timely resolution.
  • Oversee the Order Entry process, ensuring orders are entered to best impact inventory usage, such as managing and overseeing the use of Future Orders for maximum advantage.
  • Work with Management to achieve the best optimized inventory, ensuring accurate and up-to-date inventory levels.
  • Project future usage changes and understand their impact on the system, ensuring accurate and timely resolution.
  • Inspect output samples using industry-appropriate methods, such as comparing to standards, measuring dimensions, and examining functionality.
  • Check that the assembly or production line adheres to standards and procedures, complying with legal requirements.
  • Review blueprints and specifications to compare to produced goods, ensuring accurate and up-to-date inventory levels.
  • Record inspection results by completing reports, summarizing re-works and wastes, and inputting data into the quality database.
  • Comply with the Company's attendance policy by maintaining regular and predictable attendance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • 1-3 years operational staff position required.
  • Interpersonal communication, writing skills, and highly organized.
  • Microsoft Office.
  • Other inventory control/procurement procedures a plus.
