Job Title: Principal Contracts Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Contracts Specialist to join our team at McDermott International, Ltd. As a key member of our project execution team, you will be responsible for addressing all contractual and commercial issues encountered during the execution phase of large-scale, complex engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Project Director and Project Contracts Manager in implementing a project's contractual / commercial strategy throughout project execution.
  • Assist in disseminating contract requirements within the project team.
  • Identify critical or sensitive contractual issues and assist in developing an effective working relationship with Client team to ensure timely resolution of contractual issues.
  • Establish the change management process and lead / participate in change management meetings to identify changes that may result in entitlement for compensation and / or schedule relief.
  • Evaluate cost and schedule impact of all identified changes both on an individual and cumulative basis.
  • Assist in Client negotiations and working towards the timely resolution of change orders and contract amendments.
  • Coordinate resolution of contractual issues within the project environment to the extent possible.
  • Assist in the administration of all contractual correspondence with the Client.
  • Support preparation of project weekly and monthly progress reports for internal and external distribution.
  • Support the project risk and opportunity management processes.
  • Support Supply Chain Management team to coordinate the administration of contractual correspondence with all Vendors and Subcontractors.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 7+ years of project execution experience in the energy and / or construction industries (at least 4 of which will have been within a contracts or commercial management role)
  • Frequently walking, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and climbing stairs within job site.
  • Must be comfortable working outside in hot/cold temperatures and walking on uneven ground.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • University degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar is preferred
