Job Summary

The Overnight Grocery Stocking Team Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the grocery stocking department, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow, and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and delegate tasks to team members to ensure timely completion of tasks and meet productivity standards.
  • Work closely with leadership to resolve team concerns and issues, and implement solutions to improve department performance.
  • Respond to customer and team member needs and concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Assist in training and development of team members, including creating and implementing training plans and evaluating team member performance.
  • Establish and maintain a positive work environment that promotes high team morale and productivity.
  • Complete inventory management processes, including tracking inventory levels, monitoring stock levels, and conducting cycle counts.
  • Assist in tracking the productivity of the stocking crew, including monitoring case counts and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Open and close the department according to established procedures, ensuring that all tasks are completed and the department is secure.
  • Set and achieve high standards of retail execution, including maintaining a clean and organized store environment.
  • Foster a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale.
  • Maintain awareness of customer flows and needs, and direct team members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers.
  • Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel team members to sustain a high-performance team and minimize turnover.
  • Provide timely, thorough, and thoughtful performance evaluations, and make recommendations for promotions and training opportunities.
  • Consistently communicate and model Whole Foods Market's vision and goals, and promote a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 12+ months retail experience, preferably in a grocery or stocking environment.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members, leadership, and customers.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, and work in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes in priorities and tasks.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
