Compensation
Salary exempt position with a starting wage range of $51,913.58 annually ($24.96 hourly equivalent) or based on experience.

POSITION SUMMARY

This role involves overseeing and coordinating the activities of skilled and semi-skilled personnel engaged in the upkeep and repair of municipal buildings and facilities. The supervisor is accountable for directing teams responsible for maintenance and minor repairs of electrical and mechanical systems, alongside a variety of maintenance tasks. Responsibilities include:

  • Assessing maintenance needs through collaboration with management and direct observation.
  • Estimating costs for construction and maintenance projects, preparing budget proposals, and managing capital needs.
  • Creating and updating work schedules based on maintenance priorities and available resources.
  • Assigning tasks to maintenance staff, providing guidance, and inspecting completed work.
  • Preparing specifications for contractor bids to ensure compliance with maintenance requirements.
  • Executing renovation tasks, including minor construction and repairs.
  • Conducting routine maintenance on HVAC systems and performing basic plumbing and electrical tasks.
  • Overseeing painting and carpentry work as needed.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Administrative functions include budget preparation in collaboration with departmental leadership, identifying training needs for staff, conducting employee evaluations, and ensuring timely completion of necessary paperwork. Other related duties may be assigned as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Training and Experience

High school graduation with at least 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance operations, including 3 years in a supervisory role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge.

Physical Requirements

Must be capable of operating various tools and equipment, including carpentry, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing tools. Ability to operate vehicles, including light trucks, and exert physical force as needed. Must be able to navigate ladders and confined spaces. Physical demands are categorized as Medium Work.
