Job Title: Automotive Sales Consultant

Position Overview: The automotive sales consultant is responsible for the sale of both new and pre-owned vehicles. This role focuses on ensuring customer satisfaction while generating leads and achieving monthly sales targets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist customers in selecting vehicles by engaging them with thoughtful questions and attentive listening.
  • Participate in product and sales training sessions as directed by the sales manager.
  • Welcome and assist customers entering the dealership showroom or sales lot.
  • Meet or exceed monthly sales quotas for vehicle sales.
  • Address the transportation needs of customers purchasing new and used vehicles.
  • Evaluate and communicate product performance, applications, and benefits to potential buyers.
  • Detail all optional equipment available for customer purchases.
  • Offer test drives to prospective customers, ensuring proper identification is obtained.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Comply with all local, state, and federal regulations governing automotive sales.
  • Set personal income goals aligned with dealership productivity standards and develop strategies to achieve them.
  • Stay informed about new products, features, and accessories, and their benefits to customers.
  • Understand and explain vehicle equity and depreciation to customers.
  • Facilitate introductions between customers and the sales manager.
  • Ensure all closed deals are forwarded to the Finance & Insurance manager with the necessary documentation.
  • Complete sales orders and process paperwork according to dealership policies.
  • Prepare sold vehicles for customer delivery prior to their arrival.
  • Utilize the dealership's sales control and follow-up systems effectively.
  • Deliver vehicles to customers, ensuring they understand the vehicle's features, warranty, and related paperwork.
  • Introduce customers to service department staff to highlight the quality of service and repairs available.
  • Follow up on all post-delivery items to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a follow-up system that encourages repeat and referral business.
  • Schedule first service appointments for new customers.
  • Review daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly performance to optimize time management and planning.
  • Conduct business ethically and professionally.
  • Bring a positive attitude and a strong work ethic to the dealership every day.
  • Continuously enhance product knowledge and sales skills to become a vehicle expert.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • Experience in sales or a related field, preferably in an automotive dealership.
  • Knowledge of automotive sales processes.
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly with dealership management software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Understanding of and adherence to company policies and procedures.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements: The physical demands of this position include regular sitting, standing, and walking. Candidates must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: Employees will work in a professional dealership setting, engaging with customers during test drives and daily operations. The noise level is typically moderate.
